Review

"MacDonald and LaBarre, authors of New England Knits (2009) and a e-book Wool Book One, have put together a book of strange hat-pattern designs and instructions. The distance of a projects allows for 'near present gratification' and creates for unstable opportunities to try out new techniques and yarns. Of course, they make good gifts, too. The book includes 25 patterns by 19 designers, and a authors. The hats are cute, clever, fun, fashionable—all with texture, character, and whimsy. Almost all of a projects are 4 pages, with instructions, tips, and techniques, and featuring mixed photos of a hats modeled by group and women. Projects are not reserved ability levels, maybe since they are 'weekend' projects. The list of essence lists a engineer and has tiny cinema of any plan for easy reference. Knitting techniques with illustrations follow a projects. Dusty autumn pastel page backgrounds assistance boost page browsability." — Lani Smith, Booklist

"When we initial saw this book we suspicion -'Hooray, New England Hats!', though no, it’s not a book of shawl designs by New England Knits authors, Cecily Glowik MacDonald and Melissa LaBarre. The authors do minister dual patterns any to this book, and it turns out, they are only as good during picking folks to pattern hats as they are during conceptualizing them themselves. This book has 25 shawl designs by 19 opposite designers. Texture, colorwork, edging – whatever we many adore to weave or have wanted to dally in, you’ll find it here. we have a habitual fear of Fair Isle, though Gudrun Johnson’s Hued Toque is job me. There are hats for group and women, and hats that would fit both. Hats that are some-more musical and hats that are friendly warm. The accumulation of pattern is huge, and if like me, you’re a tiny bit sleepy of corpulent everything, not one of these hats is weave out of corpulent or massive chronicle – Hooray!" - Jillian Moreno, Knitty.com

5This book deserves 10 Gold Stars!

By Samiam

FINALLY! A good shawl book with beautiful, organic AND good designed hats. This book has confident my query for a ideal shawl book. The designs in this book are sundry and artistic though going approach overboard and too complicated on design. we can literally contend that we could see myself needlework all though maybe one or dual of a 25 designs that are offered. The patterns are really good presented with transparent instructions as a knitter swell from one component of construction to another. The cinema are pleasing to demeanour it as good as providing transparent obvious cinema of all elements of any pattern. Each settlement also provides a 'tips & techniques' territory associated to needlework hats. There is a 12 page glossary of simple needlework instructions - only a right volume of information. There is 2 pages dedicated to highlighting a 19 or so contributing designers. Each has supposing web information and a small information about themselves. we can't wait to burst in and start knitting!

5Cap your noggin!

By L. Hastings

Loving this shawl book. Looking by it, we think: "Why is needlework so slow?" The hats are too lovable in this book. There are about 3 designs for men, if you're wondering. That's unfortunate, though we pardon since a hats for women are darling! You've got your choice of Berets, Beanies, hats with pom-poms ,a Snood hat, Tams and many more. One of my favorites is a Earflap hat. Yes, we am pleased. Weekend hats? Well, one contingency be really committed with a needles, though I'd say, yes, we could get a shawl within a week-end. we took week-end to meant outrageous cables and bulkiness, though that's not a box here. The designs are contemporary and stylish. Tips and techniques, included. This was a good choice for me.

5Hats Up to This Book!

By Bonnie Brody

This book of pleasant hats to weave is only ideal for a winter months ahead. It includes 25 patterns that are 'variations on caps, berets, beanies, cloches, hats, toques, tams and snoods trimming from delicate to sporty'. There is a shawl in here for everyone. The patterns are enticing, a instructions clear, and a book is a good apparatus for shawl knitters everywhere.

My favorites are Wanderer Cap with a confidant zig-zag settlement weave in a bullion color, Everdeen Beanie with allover scalloped edging weave in a poetic blue, Chroma Cap that reminds me of Peruvian and Norwegian patterns, Hued Toque with 'small bands of tone in this slouchy hat' suitable for a male or a woman. The Annex Snood is adorable. It is weave with an open-lace settlement and lightweight chronicle and can be ragged year-round. The layered Cloche in a puprlish paint has an surprising figure and covers a wearer's ears for warmth.

All in all, a patterns are great, easy to review and a book is a smashing apparatus for shawl knitters.
